The staff at Camberwell share the belief that education is the fundamental right
of all children and work towards delivering curriculum programs which will
enable children to learn most effectively and thus maximise their potential.
Education is recognised as a life-long process so we promote
the development of high level thinking skills and problem solving to equip
students for the future. We are told that most of the jobs, which Prep children
will ultimately take up, have not yet been created. In responding to this
uncertainty, we teach students to reflect on their experiences in order to
understand how they learn best and thus to become independent learners capable
of responding to change.
Both young and very experienced teachers at Camberwell continue to be surprised
and delighted by insights we gain into childrens’ learning. Teachers’ routinely
reflect on their teaching and investigate best pedagogical practice. The
capacity we have to make a real difference in the lives of individuals excites
us.
We recognise parents as the child’s first and most important teachers and the
school seeks to support the ongoing engagement of parents in the education of
their children. By working together we know that we can achieve a much higher
