Student Learning
Pursuit of excellence
Learning is made deeply satisfying to students through the integration of traditional subject areas into topics to which major understandings about how the world operates are attached. Teachers select topics with great care for their global significance, relevance to the children and capacity to deliver required learning outcomes. Both English and French teachers confer in program planning and share delivery. The introduction of The Victorian Early Years Literacy Program has had an outstanding impact on student achievement particularly in Reading in the early years. This program has now moved into Years 3 and 4 and has implications for Years 5 and 6.
Our school community is a splendid source of assistance and support across a range of areas. Parent helpers are frequently evident in English and French classrooms and specialist areas. Early Years training has enhanced parent capabilities in assisting with literacy. Camping and inter-school sports programs are dependent on parent volunteers. Parent class coordinators play a outstanding role in parent staff liaison, fundraising and community events and celebrations. School Council is made up of highly able members dedicated to the best interests of the school and its community.
